I don´t know which country is the most expensive, but in Denmark!!!

Combi 1.8 TSI DSG ELEGANCE (L&K not available) 357.000Dkr.= 45.000 GBP = 47.900€

and a 25% VAT...

:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

How do people in Denmark afford to buy any expensive cars - You have very high average wages there or something?

You could buy a BMW 630 for that money here!

Hi all

Prices vary enormously between countries, it seems. I have just bought a new Combi (pre-facelift) for a friend and here is the price.

Combi 1.8T Elgance 6sp manual = $37000 on road = EUR 19,036

Elegance is top model other than vRS, so is well equipped. But leather, navi, sunroof and xenons are extra.

However, because the facelift model is about to be released this week and they are clearing old stock, plus the GFC (but Australia is not doing badly as yet) I got it (with roof cross bars and rear boot liner) for

$29,300 or EUR 15,076 on road

Very satisfying. I liked it so much I bought myself an 8,000km old 2008 vRS!

List price (new) on road vRS Combi 2.0T 6sp manual with optional navi, sunroof, xenons = $49,000 EUR 25,210

My price(used) $30,600 EUR 15,738

Even happier! And I love it.

Of course, you need to consider cost of living and earnings. Average full-time total earnings in Australia is around $57,000, and while housing is expensive, many other things are reasonably priced.

I'm glad I am not living in Denmark! And I gather that alcohol is also expensive in Scandanavia, so you can't afford to get drunk to console yourself at not affording a Skoda!!!

Cheers

Earning are around 300.000 - 360.000Dkr = 35.000 GBP - 45.000 GBP = 40.000€ - 48.000€ a year,

but with a 40% income tax.

Living cost and housing is reasonably priced. You can get a fairly new house where I live on 150m2 for 2.200.000 Dkr = 270.000 GBP = 300.000 €.

Alcohol is thank good not that expensive as Norway or Sweden, or I can take a 2½ hour drive and buy cheap beer in Germany :-)

Every time we buy a new car in Denmark, we are paying for three, 1/3 to the manufacter, 2/3 to the govement.

I don´t even think you would like to know what a BMW 630i in Denmark cost :-)

1.378.000 Dkr = 170.000 GBP = 185.000€, so it is a dream car for most in Denmark.

Well, there's always the Tata Nano :D

My Elegance 1.8TSI 6m hatch was ~AUD31,000 drive-away. =EUR16,500 / GBP15,000

The wagon with DSG would be about AUD35,000 drive-away. = EUR18600 / GBP17,000

It varies from State to State. NSW is probably the most expensive - City is cheaper than country by about 15%.

In Sydney at the moment you'll pay ~$1.18L for 98ron. It's been as low as $1.02 in January & was as high as $1.70 last June.

There was a definite reduction in traffic once the price exceeded $1.50.
