As she's now got a company car the Cooper was just sitting on the drive losing money, so we've (well I've) emptied the garage and filled it with a weekend toy. Plan is to keep it standard and enjoy it like it was meant to be enjoyed.

So it's diesel credit crunch proof fabia vrs from Monday to Friday, then MR2ing all weekend. What do you think???

Bet you can't wait to get her top off........................................;)

Nice looking car mate.

Looks like fun.

What were the dealers like to haggle with at the moment?

Hopefully you got a realistic price for the Mini and a decent discount on the new toy

It was actually a very quick and easy deal. The garage we got the MR2 from is a local who seems to keep a decent seletion of cars in. The mini had a few bits that needed doing to it, back box had gone, there was a hole in the front bumper due to an incident with another cars tow bar, three alloys were curbed and it needed at least two new tyres.

Prices for MR2's seem to be all over the place, privately you can get a high mileage one for 3.5k, dealers range from 4.5k for early ones through to around 7.5k for 03's and 04's.

The mini according to glass's was worth 5230 in excellent condition. It was far from excellent condition, but against the MR2 which I thought was a little over priced the garage met my valuation of 5.5k. So as Mike Brewer would say 'a bag of sand to change'.

Probably wasn't the deal of the century, but it was right for us.

And get the roof off the car!!

Nice looking motor and will no doubt see you well even if it was used every day and the mileage was clocked up!

Nice looking car there. I drove a few before i got my MX-5. I just prefered the 5 in the end as it was a bit more predictable in the handling stakes. Enjoy, and get the top down as often as you can.

Forgot to mention, are yo aware of the pre-cat "issue" with the mr-2??

Nothing serious but when i researched getting one the done thing seems to be to remove them altogether.

Nice looking car, if you want to go down the slippery slope, send ChrisGB a pm as he has a very nicely fettled MR2.

I miss mine so much. Had this before the octavia. A good 2 years of fun motoring.

Yeah, I've been reading a lot about the pre-cat "issue", I'm not looking to modify this car so I won't be going down the new manifold route, but there is a list of garages who'll remove the pre-cat on the mr2roc.org, one of them is near me and only charges £55, so I think I'll get it booked in there sometime. Better to be safe than very sorry.

That looks very nice. Been trying to convince swmbo to buy something like this, so I can have some fun in it...lol
