Fabia vRS wing

Featured Replies

Hi, I've done a quick search, but not had any luck. My brother's vRs needs a new wing fitting, got the wing to fit, but not sure how to remove the current wing (drivers side). From what I can see, there a 2-3 bolts at the front hidden by the front bumper, does the bumper need removing to change the wing?

Any help appreciated.

would the fact that the bolts are hidden by the bumper not suggest it needs removing?

The workshop manual sequence is to remove the front bumper, wheelhouse liner and turn signal lamp. Release the screws visible along the top of the wing inside the engine compartment. Then locate and release the 6 remaining screws which should be visible - including the 2 previously hidden by the bumper.

Installation is the reverse. Before screwing on the wing, place a galvanized washer under the screws at the impact points in the wheelhouse zone and the A pillar.

I am trying to remember how it is fitted, but I would think yes, because the front bumper clips on some bracket thing which IIRC is on the wing.

There may be a few pics around if you follow the car pics thread from Ross on my car (via sig link below) back to his photobucket project page.

Now now bright spark :D

Looks like theres a couple of fixings behind the arch liner closest to the door and one behind the bumper and a couple on the top in the engine bay.

To remove bumper look here: http://www.forgemotorsport.co.uk/media/FabiaVRS(1).pdf

Arch liner is just some torx screws.

just did this one!

as above take bumper off, wing liner and side repeater.

one bolt under the sill might be covered in crap though.

open the door and theres one at the top

small one under the plastic underneathe the windscreen

all the ones along the top

two under the bracket for the bumper, so you have to remove the plastic bit the bumper clips too

and then if you look into the wheel arch. on the door side there will be two bolts one towards the top and one towards the bottom. if you cant see them it maybe because it has that stuff on them to prevent corrosion.

as far as i remember thats all of them. then as long as you haven't lost the bolts. replace wing and reverse sequence.

Remove the bumper, arch liner and the front scuttle panel (the [plastic bit that the wipers poke through). There are a few bolts across the top of the wing (which you can see when the bonnet is open) there is a nut right at the top corner which is covered by the scuttle panel. There is one right at the bottom of the wing where it meets the end of the sill. There are two which bolt to a bracket behind the front bumper. There are also two that are inside the wing facing the front of the door shut.

Once you have them all un-bolted you then need something with a sharp edge like a wall paper scrapper and push it in between the wing and the body where it meets up inside the wheel arch - this is because it is also bonded on with a load of seam sealer.

NOTE! Be very careful removing and re-fitting the scuttle panel as it is possible to crack the screen if your a bit rough with it. Make sure you use plenty of WD40 on it to get it back on.
