My Windows 7 system is running a free one from these people; Anti virus for Linux, Windows and more with firewall, antispam, recovery security - Avira AntiVir

Seems to be Ok on the whole. Still won't use this PC for online banking or shopping etc though.

Only gives you the firewall on the upgraded version ,not on the free one, which does install on Win 7 .

However it doesent seem to slow win7 down ,scan is fast -certainly faster than AVG .

Now firewall -free one from PC TOOLS ,which does run on Win7

I used to use AVG, and paid for a two-year subscription. A little while ago, I changed to NOD32 (www.eset.co.uk) and have been very happy. It seems less intrusive than the latest AVG and scans emails automatically, even if you're using Thunderbird or any mail client other than Outlook (AVG needs manual configuring for other than Outlook).

Also been using it on Windows 7 with no problems so far. Has found a few nasties too. Mind you, that's NOD32's antivirus, and haven't tried the firewall at all. But being behind a NAT'd router, I'm not too worried and just keep an eye on what I download and keep Firefox and IE updated to latest security patches. Seem ok so far.

Just realised that AVG free gives you AVG safe search -protection against clicking malicious links on Firefox .(and includes anti spyware ) .Have found PC tools firewall seems to work on win7 .

Edit to add -and another freebie on PC tools -threatfire -antivirus and anti spy ---all PC tools stuff seems to work on Win7, and it's free .
