The Blue Bullet is Alive

Featured Replies

Well she lives and breathes again. My beloved blue bullet now has a new coil pack in (and a spare just in case:rolleyes:) and is running just fine again :D:D

For anyone who has the same problem then the part code for the coil packs (Which are a new revision F) is:

06F 905 115 F

That part is for a 2.0 TFSi vRS engine. I dont know if it fits other enigines as when the RAC bloke came out to me last night he had every size under the sun apart from mine.

Anyway for those who are going to JKM hopefully will see you there

Nice to hear Carl. See you saturday.

A nice reasonably cheap fix which is good news mate.

Out of curiosity i asked how much it would be for them to fit it.

£86.72 inc vat

I said i'll take the £31 part and doe the 2 minutes work myself. 3 minutes including clearing the fault code and checking it was all ok  Can't believe they charge £91.26 an hour labour. Couldn't believe the random figure either why not just have £91 or £92 an hour

Don't forget what i do for a living I can always make sure my silenced 226 is available and i may turn up dressed in all black ;)

Don't forget though the coil packs from the RS4 fit ...... and they are RED ..... which makes your car faster :)

Nice one Carl, after my coilpack issues I always carried a spare

The RAC bloke had Red ones on his van and they were too short aswell. Unless they were different Red ones:thumbup:

So thats were the RS4 power comes from:rolleyes:.

I may skip the KO4 conversion then and just whack in 4 RS4 Coilpacks and hey presto 414bhp & 317lb/ft :):rofl:

Carl, what revision coils was your car fitted with from the factory? My 08 came with D ones and still seem ok at 27k.

I think it is luck of the draw Micky. My '06 vRS did 41k with no coil pack problems.

The ones in the Car are D revision the new ones are F. Also i have done nearly 36K in my car

I dont think there is a major issue with them as Ian said it's just luck of the draw. I personally will always carry a spare now as once one goes the rest usually follow suit. I had it explained to me that when one goes it puts stress on the others and so they start to go too.

If you are worried just speak to your dealer and ask how long it would take them to get one in for you and base whether you carry any on that.

What happens when a coil pack goes? Will it still run but just on 3 cylinders to get you home or will the car shut down for safety?

3 or less cylinders. Depends how many coil packs have failed.

you will now it's failed mickey the car will vibrate like hell as you try to accelerate, about 10 times worse than driving on rumble strips, and the engine light will flash. I drove 120 miles on 3 cylinders but i wouldn't recommend it. Did get 48.5mpg tho :D I just didn't have the time to wait for the RAC

My advice and if it happens again and i haven't got a spare coil i will wait for the RAC
