What wheels fit?

Featured Replies

As some of you may know, I'm thinking about fitting a new set of wheels to the Tank.

The problem is, I'm not sure what style to go for.

I've looked at going down the original vRS look, but having seen the wheels on the WW-VRS conversion I'm wondering what they would look like on the Octy.

Also, am I able to fit any 5 stud VAG wheels without problem?

I have 3 17" old style RS4 alloys in the garage which need a refurb, but having priced up one new wheel, the refurb and tyres it makes sense to look at a complete new set.:o

Oh, and I'm definatley looking at an IP remap for her. Has anyone had one from there and what difference did it make, will just the standard remap make it pull like the wifes Civic I-CTDI?

Thanks

Needed to add another Q

Yeah most VAG wheels from the same generation will fit (golfs, polo's, leons, fabias etc...). But new (mk2) Octavia wheels have a different PCD.

PCD is 5x100mm

Wheel centre hole diameter is 57mm

Wheel bolts have a spherical collar (M14x1.5 bolts)

7x17 RS wheels have a 38mm offset just for reference

Regarding the remap from IP:

There were quite a few cars at the south east rolling road day last year that had (or had in the past) remaps from Impossible:

General consensus is they're very good. Mike is also very willing to spend time and trouble to get your car working well with the remap if there are faults with things like the valves. You will get better results with a custom remap from them and some exhaust and intake mods than you will with just a generic remap.

You might need to look at uprating the clutch, depending on the torque level achieved by the remap.

Cheers guys.

Anyone with any ideas what style of wheel will suit?

Also, I'm on a budget and have put the £300 aside for the remap. Roughly how much is thought I'd need over thgat for a decent increase in drivability.

Cheers

Any ideas? Anyone?

Oh I do agree that search is a wonderful tool lex, but when it comes up with a huge amount of posts, none of which relate to my question, I find that asking outright to other Briskodians helps.

Cheers for that anyway.

Mention Briskoda and I think they will give you a bit of a discount. IIRC the generic remaps are £330 and the custom ones are over £400.
