Looked at 2001 Fabia But?

Featured Replies

Hi looking to change wifes car looked at a Fabia on a Y plate reg 2001

1.9sdi Comfort

Question 1, did it come with remote central locking or is it standard key in the hole n twist?

2nd question if it didnt have remote central locking did the central locking also work from passenger side or just drivers side?

Thanks in advance folks:thumbup:

I am sure it came with just a key but I could be wrong, someone with better knowledge might know.

Don't fancy a 53 plate Fabia 1.2 Estate in silver do you £ 2995 delivered

A couple of threads bout this before (see if I can find the links). It seems that remote locking was an option as my 2001 Comfort doesn' have it but others do. I can however, confirm that the central locking with the key works from both sides of the car.

OK been n done the deal car comes with one key but trader is gona try n sort another one.

But that still dont answer my question to whether it has remote central locking:mad:

If I got intouch with skoda uk would they be able to check against the chassis or reg number to see if it did or not:confused:

I think it depends on exactly when it was built. Mine was Comfort spec (1.9 TDI), did have remote central locking, and was built in 2001. But I suspect some Comfort spec cars built earlier in the same year didn't.

Assuming you are buying the car and have seen it why didn't you ask the seller?

Once you have got the car there is a sticker with some 3 character code things. If you google hard enough you can find a site that will tell you what the codes mean. Also, what did the key the dealer had look like? If it was quite square it has remote locking, but if its quite narrow and round then it doesnt.

bought car from local car sales. He has only one key but he's going to try n sort another out before I collect it.

Key that he had said Skoda on it with a little light in the end of it no lock or unlock buttons on it

That doesnt sound like its got remote locking then. Mines got two keys, one with the light you mentioned, the other one doesn't

Thats right, no remote locking. it will however have central locking but you will have to use the key in the lock to open it. Remote locking has lock/unlock on the key in place of the little light.

bugger:mad: looks like I will be looking for a remote central locking kit. Dont want an alarm tho, any suggestions :D

I know it is doable but think its quite costly and time consuming/hard.

I can tell you it doesnt seem to have an alarm as standard though.
