Forge 007p reversal on VRS

Featured Replies

Would reversing a Forge 007p cause any turbo problems or other effects, other than noise on a stock 180bhp vrs? Reason for reversing is due to the engine cover rubbing like mad on the vacuum hose and when reversed no rubbing is present.

It seems to be from what I have read on VW vortex, SeatCupra.net and other forums that it is OK to do this, only complaint people seem to make is the extra noise, but does anyone reckon this will put anymore wear on the turbo?

It's like a screaming cat when your reverse them.

Other than that its harmless.

I tried the reverse thing as well up to about 20mph and no extra noise!?

I had read about it but really the noise isn't too bad. Compared to a Baileys atmospheric (evil on the VAG engines) it sounds OK to me at least.

Can you not replace the adaptor at the top with a right-angled version, therefore the pipe comes off from the side rather than over the top?

Yes I think they do one, but I don't mind having the other way as long as it doesn't cause issues.

No

Not cause any issues at all , my son has had it on his MK4 Golf for over a year now :) he loves it

You can relocate it to the front of the engine bay with a kit but it costs £££s :(

I bought the 007pa (swivel one) and that still rubs, eventually found that turning the jubilee clip so the screw part points up and holds the cover off the pipe before melting it, although this wont work for your 007p.

Looking on the Forge's website they specify the FMCL007P under the Octavia 1.8t section, and the adjustable FMCL007PA is not mentioned. Surely the 007PA is the better option for the VRS as the engine cover rubs if you use the standard hoses?

My Bailey has a right-angled adaptor and I also put some felt under the cover as an extra precuation.

I just cut a corner off the engine cover. Crude but effective :D

Oo i didnt want to butcher mine, I was going to keep it hidden and tell some porkies untill it turned up in blinged chrome instead of black

Just what i did to mine :rolleyes:

Phil:cool:

I posted about this a while back and one of the gys from forge posted to keep it the correct way round.

Mine has always rested on the corner of the cover and I've never had any problems.

Mine seems to fit fine...

Tried it in reverse for the noise- ended up feeling a little self-conscious after a couple of days. Had quite a few looks and felt a little silly, so changed it back.

It's awful, like a kind of high pitched fart.

I tried it in reverse as the the hose was rubbing on the cover. I didn't like in reverse & so I switched it back again & cut the cover, but I cut it to show the DV & It looks quite well:thumbup:

Indeed!

I Heard it should stay the right way round too and not be reversed.

Try sanding down the edge of your engine cover to remove the sharp edge (on the corner on it sits on the dv on the underside) with wet and dry so it doesnt cut/chaff your pipe where it touches. Also try not fitting the engine press clip on that side to relieve any pressure on the dv/pipework you might be placing.

In the end though I decided I still wasnt happy with that so I took the cover off altogether:)

Yes definately OK to reverse

The guy who reversed my son`s was the UK Sales manager @ Forge at the time

Suppose it is down to taste really , as I said my son`s is still reversed as he loves it

But then he is only 24......
