weird question of the day....

Featured Replies

Well, I've just been tidying my computer desk which had got into a bit of a mess as I tend to dump everything on it. I just found this wire and I can't for the life of me think what on earth I have/would use it for?? It has 35mm jacks on both ends

Any ideas? I don't want to lose it or something if it turns out to be really important!

Cheers!

I use one that goes from the line out of my laptop to my 2.1 PC speakers.

Could be for speakers as per Tom's post, or for connecting an MP3 player to the line in of your laptop for example. 3.5 mm plugs also used to be used to hook up a soundcard to a modem, but not very common these days :)

Lol... your computer will explode soon!

Will be for your speakers.

HTH!

Thats a very artisic photo of a humble speaker cable..........I'm impressed.

A crappy phone camera one would of have sufficed.

I don't have any speakers for it to go into though...hmm...odd one. Oh well, the consensus of opinion points that way so at least I know what it's for!

It's not meant to be arty. I just had my lil Canon compact by my pc so used that. It was no more difficult than doing it by phone. Probably easier tbh!

I guessed it wasn't mean't too be arty lol

You must just be a natural :D

Col, I don't think she can hear you :rolleyes:

BTW, I don't see anything that's 35mm in that photo.

If you're referring to the lead, it's a 3.5mm 2-pole, i.e. stereo, jack :P

Yup, thats exactly what I meant Xav, well spotted, no one else noticed!:rofl:

Too many cameras in my head methinks lol

I noticed ;) thus my 3.5mm response ;)

Not to worry LOL

Yeah but for all I know you could have just read over it and not even noticed lol. I knew what I meant, I just type too quick!

its not for an old phone to transfer stuff to and from it is it? (after my first idea already said above).

It was really just an excuse to use macro mode

It's a 3.5mm stereo audio cable, used for many things, but most commonly to take MP3 player audio to an "Aux In" on a car stereo.

If you have only had cameras out on the desk, it could be used to transfer sound from the camera to the computer when transferring video, If the camera is capable of video capture.

Alan.

I don't need an excuse to use macro :)

Nah, sound will transfer down the camera wire, or straight from the card in a card reader. I still have no idea what it can be for. I have nothing that would warrant it. I'm baffled.

have a look through all your disks, software and gadgets and see if any need a 3.5mm jack? has anyone else used your pc at home that might have needed that lead?

Is it for your speakers.

I may be slow but I get there in the end.

Viagra - before and after :)

So loz any ideas yet what that lead is for? interrogated the family in case its one of theirs?
