Erm.... ive put a new clutch in my 1.6 VW engined fun bus as it was going, but it was also making a funny wirring noise when i dipped the clutch... but worst of all it really shuddered when i reversed.

Put the second hand box in and it does the same juddering which also comes through the gear lever... its so bad that an hour ago the gearbox mount on the end the box shearded of and then dropped on the floor! No driveshaft in the box on the passenger side ment no forward motion or reverse! Plus it would of dragged the engine along the floor!!!!

So my question is.... what Box fits it? Golf? Polo?

Or should i just go and buy a VR6 engine?! Has anyone done it before?

Help please i dont want to scrap my fun bus! Everyone loves it, including me!

Are you sure you put the clutch plate in the right way round, No other box will go straight in

it's impossible to but the clutch plate in round the wrong way on those, you wouldn't be able to get the outer plate on..

did you remember to fill the gearbox oil back up when you put the driveshafts back in??

as said its a skoda box not a vw, but i would love to see you put a vr6 in there. as it happens i might have a spare 2.9 vr6!!!!!

is that the same gearbox as your 1.6 petrol?

yes the diesel gearbox is more or less the same as the petrol models, they share the same casing and bellhousing, it's only a few internal components that are different
