Who wants to play "guess how much" game?

Featured Replies

Well I have finally contacted 2 places about seriously getting this supercharger off the ground  Waiting for cost estimates back so I can start selling limbs (look out for ad's soon if you are missing any body parts or fancy a quick 3 arm mod - all requests considered)

What do u reckon? I'm expecting something in the range of 3grand?

£3,995 all in. :D Not sure exactly how much work is in involved though.

Been a hard choice as I also seen a gorgeous mk2 I want... but supercharging lissy I think will be much more fun :D (and has that "you are a loony" factor as well)

Yip, i agree, WELL over the 3k mark:eek:

Ian:)

I know Rotrex do a kit for the 1.6 Fabia but there are no price details on Stromdevelopments website, but if anyone can stick a supercharger on something it'll be Storm. Might be worth ringing them for some advice.

I've been looking to upgrade my moobs if you get desperate

Yeah, 3500-4000 i'd guess.

And Storm are definatly the choice for me if I was S/C'ing.

We are talking about your 1.4 right?

Dave

We did my mates Alfa 2.0l twin spark with a min Eaton supercharger. Made up all the brackets and pipework ourselves. Cost about £300 in total + a piggyback ecu to map it. Sounded absolutely awesome

Thats the effect I want Alex! First E38 meet I went to I fell in love with the sound a mental supercharged 'rado made. I want Lissy to sound like that.

What about something like this? :D Some bonnet mods needed perhaps.

The red flaps wouldnt suit my car. haha.

that's a 750ci big block chev in that pic above, i bet that makes about 900bhp...

is regards to supercharging, it aint going to be cheap, it depends on how reliable you want it to be, on the 1.4 the weak link is the conrods, and the hypeuretic full skirt pistons won't last long either... a decent set of i-beam steel rods and low compression forged pistons will cost you circa £1500, you can pick up an eaton m45 off ebay for about £250 at the most, then you need to design and manufacture the mounting brackets(which is far easier with the engine out), uprated fuel injectors will cost you £300-400, you'll need some sort of ecu to control it all, plus pipework, and rolling road time, and labour..

imho i don't think you'll see any change from £5k

If your heart is set on the Eaton route then have a look on clublupo, there's info on their regarding Eaton conversions on VAG engines.

Doesnt have to be Eaton. I'll also look up Storm if they come recommended and see what they say.

iirc the storm kit for the 1.4 engines is around the £1600-1800 mark and will run up to around 180bhp, dependant on specs, thats not inc a map tho. so a budget of around £4-500 for a live map should do it. eaton charger is the cheapest route, unless u get it done by a company, in which case i know for a fact its gonna be around the £3-5k mark, again, dependant on specs.

Lets face if you don't get a set up like this, you'll only end up wanting more :D

But their kit will be for the VW engine.

if your gonna do it change the engine whilst your at it, stick a 2.0 in it or something whilst your there for even more fun :D

oooo no thats cheating. the point of this exercise is to see what abuse I can give my existing 1.4. I have toyed with the idea of dumping a polo gti engine in there, but just wouldnt be the same. The engine has to stay! (untill it goes bang)

Now this is intriguing :) I admire your bravery...or madness... :P

Reminds me of someone who turbo'd a 1.4mpi

But their kit will be for the VW engine.

and is adaptable, i've already done the groundwork and spoken to them.
