Heated seats

Featured Replies

I have decided i want to wire up the R32 heated seats.

Did the MK1 Octavia come with the option for heated seats? if so where are the switches for these located as i would like to use original Skoda equipment to make these work.

Any pics would be appreciated.

Thanks

Matt

the original switches were located in the blank space under the hazourd switch nxt to the traction control, dont no bout the rest but would like to do this myself, think the switches were the same in the bora or golf but they light up blue as the ones in the skoda light up green

good luck with this

and sorry it was only the wrc edition of the octy that had these in and there were only a 100 made

Cheers mate. Thanks for pointing out the switch colour as mine has had a full conversion to VW blue.

I shall use Golf/Bora switches.

Thanks

I will create a thread when i do this.

Just checked on Elsa and all i need is the switches. Mount the switches and wire it all up. Simple job i reckon. The switches themselves are the control units, and the temp sensors are built into the seats.

Also found some switches on ebay, excellent.

The WRC came with them as standard, but they were also an option for the regular vRS :)

It is also standard equipment in the Laurin & Klement models:thumbup:

Hi Matt,

As you've figured out the best option is to use Golf/Bora switches as if you use Octavia ones you also need seperate relays and the wiring also becomes more difficult. You can get a pre-made wiring loom to work with golf parts from Kufatec.de

I always intended to wire up the seats but never got round to it. I was actually getting bored of the VW illumination towards the end and had actually started doing a conversion to Audi using a TT climate panel and was planning to use the TT heated seat switches too.

I hope you're enjoying the car as much as I did.

sorry but does the WRC edition come with different seats to the vrs then?

Yes, IIRC the WRC seats are heated and have memory options as well ?

I have just had a look at the dash on mine, and there is only 1 available space next esp switch. No where for 2 heated seat switches.

Does anyone have a photo of them please?

Eddy. Yeah loving the car, it has got a few niggly things that are annoying me, but hey suppose it gives me something to do.

The octavia heated seat switch has both dials in one unit, hence the need for seperate relays.

Both switches are on the one unit

Beaten to it, well done Eddy :D

Ah right, so are the MK4 Golf ones the same fitment as the octavia switches? if i were to move the fuel filler release?

Not sure, they are similar size, the most notable difference are the golf ones have round edges and are flat fronted rather than curved like the switches in the octavia. Also I don't know of a retrofit loom for octavia switches but for golf switches there is this one: KUFATEC GmbH - Kabelsatz Sitzheizung Golf 4 IV 30000 My plan was to remove the ashtray and put a custom panel there to house them.

Looks a bit like this (you will have to squint hard to see it :))

They will fit in the panel you may need to cut the hole slightly as the skoda holes are indexed so only a particular switch will fit in a particular slot, but they are angled back were the skoda ones are angled forward, so the golf ones stick out at the top .I think the early octavias had the fuel release switch down by the handbrake .

It can't play DVD's itself but it's fairly straight forward to connect a source such as PS2 or DVD player with a suitable adaptor. I assume it still has the phatbox connected for playing MP3's?

Cool, yeah the Phatbox is still there although it gets some interference from somewhere, maybe fuel pump.
