ABS Control Unit

Featured Replies

Just had recently my ABS Control Unit on my Fabia 1.9TDI. Apparantly there was no danger of my ABS not working, however it was not reporting back to the main computer that parts of the ABS system was ok or not. On a side note to this, from purchase there was a problem with my Fabia, in that sometimes when I put the key in the ignition and started the engine quickly the ABS light and the Power Steering light would come on together. To resolve this I had to turn off the engine.. lock the car, unlock the car.. key back in the ignition and wait.. then start the engine. Whether the two are related I don't know, but I know of other people having a similar problem with these two lights on their dash as they get in.

Thankfully, my Fabia is less than 2 years old and I got the ABS/CU replaced under warranty. Any ideas how much this item would have cost? Anyway, no problems since.

Regards,

Would have been very cheap second hand from me.... (long story)

ABS unit or electronic unit for the ABS? The former costs anywhere between

ooooh.. a princely sum. glad I didn't have to fork out for that then..

Regards,

There was a problem with the ABS wiring picking up electrostatic charge from the wiring to the cooling fan, this created a few problems with the ABS, it was rectified by recall by fitting a resistor inline to the main power supply to the cooling fans iirc on top of the battery. Unfortunately if this had gone on too long the ABS ECU would need to be changed, not a 'fun' job on the Fabia.

Dont know if that was at all related to your problems but interesting none the less.

 Didn't realise they were that much?! Looks like there's a nice bit of kit sat in a buckled Fabia of mine then!

TBH I think i'd steer away from fitting a second hand ABS unit from a car that had been upside down in an accident.

A pretty old thread this, but in the hope that Ross is still out there and may just notice this I'm adding a quick post to see if he (or anyone) has a link or reference to the recall details. I can't find any on Google or the VOSA website and it may just be useful with a problem I'm having that sounds very similar if not the same.
