Getting A Better Sound

Featured Replies

Hi there im new to the forum, im driving a fabia vrs in corrida red and love it!

I have a Alpine XD001 stereo which is compatible with my ipod. I know the speakers in the Fabia are much better than any other standard speakers in other cars but i was thinking of changing them to get a louder sound and was quering whether anybody has any recommendations i was thinking of sticking to a budget of £100 due to the current economical crisis ! Thanks

16cm components. Thing is they will make it quieter. Reason being oem speaker tend to be very sensitive so they require less power for a given volume. Aftermarket have lower sensitivity and theirfor require more power to match the same volume.

I have SPL Dynamics 6.1 in mine. their the biggest depth wise you can go. Too big even.

Best bet is to have a listen to a range of speakers. I've heard speakers by Fli sound pretty impressive, considering most of there other aufio stuff is not that good.

what do you mean by louder? Do you mean more volume, do you mean more bass, or do you mean that you want better sound quality? All the above are done in different ways...

This guys right. the higher the wattage speaker output, the higher the wattage input you need to get the correct voicing from the speaker. Go for a speaker with an RMS value just above your stereo out put.

RMS means 'Route Mean Square'.....all of you who remember your school maths will know that its a product of a mathematical equation which is boring but you could understand it like this:

RMS- Real Music Sound. at that particular wattage, the speaker is at its best.

Hope it helps ;)

oh- I usually get Pioneer, or Sony, or JVC stuff is good. Check Ebay of course to get you some resesion busting sound!

I bought some FLi 16.5 components, 70W RMS, 230 peak IIRC. Just need to find some time to get them fitted with my new H/U :)

I have a Pioneer headunit with Infinity Basslink II, 200wrms subwoofer with built in 4-channel amplifier @ 35wrms.

I have amped the standard speakers and it works like a charm.
