skoda 1,9 TDI turbine overboosts problem

Featured Replies

I have problem with my skoda 1,9 TDI, turbine overboosts above 60 km (below 60 turbine work fine, above 60km it cuts out the turbine and goes to save mode untill I restart the car), it seems either my waste gate is stuck or that link is stuck from think that control it is " mebran or whatever you call it" I have pressure from the vaccum system, still the waste gate is not being controlled. I spoke to skoda dealer in Iceland, and they say that it is not possible to buy, any spare parts to this turbine other than total set for 2400 euros, Which I not very happy with considering the turbine work fine. Can anyone tell me where I can get spare part for turbine online, for resonable price. Or tell me where I can get a manual for this turbine. and related part I would try to take it apart.

is it the 90 or 110 bhp model? May well be the sticky turbo vanes issue which can be sorted without replacing turbo.

I don't think they have a wastegate either the vanes control boost and if they stick they overboost causing the limp mode.

I don't know a lot about the diesels though but someone will come along who does.

In the mean time do a search on sticky turbo and I'm sure it will through something up thats similar to your problem.

I have had a similar issue twice in 6 months. on both occasions it happened when accelerating hard in third gear uphill, the car suddenly lost power and then wouldn't rev past 3000rpm. Again when i turned it off and on again it was fine. I have spoke to a chap on the forum (sorry cant remember his name) who is in nottingham i think, and is able to clean the turbo up rather than buying a new one. If and when my problem gets worse i will go to him. By the way i have a 110 tdi

Hi

I have read your thread again I didn't realise you were in iceland. If you go to www.small-engine.co.uk and have a look on his website. He is very knowledgable and is really helpful. I know your not in the uk but he told me if i sent my turbo to him he could clean it up and send it back to me. I don't know if thats feasible for you?

Tom
