Leaking Rear Door Seals Video Fix

Featured Replies

Hi made this short video after fixing another leaking rear door seal on a fabia, Don't know if it will be of any use but it will show you how simple the door handle is to remove when you know how :)

Wow you did almost as messy a job as me

Sure that'll come in handy for a bunch of people! Make sure you buy some spare clips before starting... you WILL break at least 1 unless you're blessed with an angelic like touch

I would strongly recommend not using a silicon based sealant for this job. The carrier plate seems to be galvanized and the sealant wont stick to the edge of the carrier plate. I now use Unibond three in one sealant (£10 from Homebase), it has instant grab, and dries well, and sticks like cr+p to a blanket  Not sure what the official repair kit sealer is, but at close to £50 it must have gold or diamonds in it :D

LOL yeah it is messy looking did the other side far neater but just plastered it on here, just hope it holds the water back like the other side has, fingers crossed :)

Awesome guide. It's a life saver.

After making the silicon mistake (it leaked the next week) I used that instant gasket stuff you use for sumps and pumps. Not leaked a drop since.

The kit from the dealer comes with a primer you put on first which means the silicone sticks, also one kit does a few cars.

Nice video.

I pray your window reg dont bust, your never getting that son of a bitch off.

I used black roof and gutter sealant on mine about 9 months ago and 3 doors are OK but the drivers side front has failed.
