Roomster in Singapore!

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I am new here and I just collected my Skoda Roomster here in Singapore last week. It's believe to be the first one on the road!

Since I am the only one on the road, I figured this is the best place to seek for ideas, tips, help and assistance about my new Roomster.

I got the Polar blue 1.6l auto gear roomster. It's a mix of Roomster 2 and 3 package. First impression, the space and flexibility is great. The looks, well, it looks much better than in pictures and it slowly growing in us. Grabs a couple of attention here since most just saw it for the first time. In most cases, got a thumbs up for the looks!

Engine wise, this is no hot hatch but capable to surprise many other hot hatch to be and sedans on the road. Its fast and nippy. Only a little sluggish at start but from then on, it's a breeze. Love the cruising at 6th gear, quiet and comfort!

Ok.. no need to brag too much about a car that you are all so much more familiar than me...

I have a few niggles though with the LED display:

1. The LED clock display is always off the correct time slot. Need to correct them all the time.

2. I need to wait for all the indication light to be off before cranking to start the vehicle. If I don't, all the LED indicator for "PRNDS" wil be highlighted and no current gear selection is being displayed.

3. The trip computer keeps on resetting itself after a trip.

I wonder if there is a battery for this LED display that might need a change. I know this car have been in the warehouse for about a year now.

Any help out there?

Thanks.

Welcome to Briskoda; you have certainly found the right place.

I have the 1.6 Tiptronic (auto) as well although in Scout trim; good choice.

When do you cruise in 6th gear? I thought you were limited to 70kph in Singapore.

Do you set it and then find the next day the time is wrong? Strange.

2. I need to wait for all the indication light to be off before cranking to start the vehicle. If I don't, all the LED indicator for "PRNDS" wil be highlighted and no current gear selection is being displayed.

Standard operation is; Turn the ignition on and the LED display shows PRNDS, turn the key to start the engine, all the instrument lights go out but come back on when the engine is running. OK?

3. The trip computer keeps on resetting itself after a trip.

If your 'gear' spec is between the 2 and 3 (for UK) you should have an MFD (multi function display) onboard computer that shows trip mileage, average fuel consumption, instant fuel consumption, range and temperature. The mileage and avearge fuel consumption can both be seen as 1. for your journey or 2. since last reset.

I guess you are presently showing trip mileage for each journey at present. Have a read through the handbook for further info.

Don't think so; all works off the main battery.

Any help out there?

Thanks.

Hope that helps.

PS> If you see a Subaru Forester STi being driven 'briskly' in Singapore by an Englishman; watch out he's my brother. :D;)

It's 90kph... I even tried in the long underground tunnel with speed limit of 70kph.. still manage to cruise it at 6th speed... the trick once it reaches the speed limit, release the accelerator pedal and tap it lightly.. it's then on the 6th gear... nice!

According to the mechanic, there's something wrong with the connection. Fixed. Monitoring it now..

The mechanic mentioned there's a problem with the tiptronic switch. They need to change that. So indented the parts and waiting to be replaced.

Yes. it is multi display. The problem is similar to the clock problem. Connection issue. Problem fixed. Monitoring.

Thanks for the tip and will look out for the Englishman in Forester STi.. and steer clear ;)

Any idea where can I purchase the accessories for the luggage stuff? Mine seem does not come with flexible thingy, the nett and etc...

I am also looking to install a cruise control, any idea how can I check my Roomster able to install the cruise control?
