Hi when I use my window wipers then have a mind of their own as to when they stop. when they are in the position they should stop, there is a click noise as if its trying to stop them but they continue until they decide its time to stop.

What would cause this and is there somthing i can do?

It sounds like the self-parking system has failed. That's part of the motor, which will probably need replacing if so.

Does this happen on flick, wash-wipe, and intermittent as well as when you come off slow to stopped?

mostly it happens when I do a single wipe but also when I use the washers. I find it happens less if I put intermitant wipe on however it still does it sometimes.

How easy is the motor to replace and how do u get to it?

Is it expensive?

Another common thing is the wiper linkage seazes

May be worth checking to see if that is free

:lol: I even remember watching WRC and watching them have to pull out because thier wipers had packed up

As Sarah says the linkage sometimes siezes, but AIUI that just stops the wipers working, rather than letting them work but making the self-park "a bit random and intermittent". A new motor's about £90; I was just reading a message by someone who'd fixed their's, and reckoned the 6 hours they spent saving £90 wre worthwhile.
