Purchased a cheap vag com cable £4 of ebay, got this fault

16524 - oxygen (lambda) Sensor B1 S2 : NO ACTIVITY

PO140 - 35 - 10 ----- INTERMITTENT

CAR IS FABIA 1.4 8V AQW

Whats the likley cause? and which lambda does it refer to? ie location?

If it refers to faulty lambda has anyone used a universal 1 with success?

As for univeral ones - i've tried them on several cars and i've had very little success with them to be honest.

It looks like there might be pre and post according to the fault code description. After working in the spurious car market for five or so years i would say that it would be worthwhile spending that little bit more on the direct fit ( not necessarily skoda ) lamda sensor rather than a universal one that you have to splice wires together.

I had to buy a pre cat sensor - ie S1 and main dealer was same price as proper NTK one from an online supplier including postage. So I reckon that your post cat - ie S2 sensor will be the same pricewise - ie easier just to buy from a VAG outlet.
