Lights flickering

Featured Replies

Hi I've got a strange problem with my 07 vRS, I've done a search but can't find anything relating to this.

If I've got the lights on, the heated rear mirror, heated seats, heated wing mirrors & then put the wipers on the lowest interditate setting every now & again, all the lights flick off, including the dash ones & the heated rear window goes off, every thing else stays on & working.

This only seems to happen if its a bit damp outside & if I leave the heated rear window off it dosn't do this.

I had a new battery just after christmas so I don't think its related, I've also done a scan with my VagCom & got no errors. I can't see anything wrong in the fuse box either. Its almost like theres a short some where when all fo the above is on & then the wipers draw power to move, however I'm at a loss where to start looking.

Thanks for any help.

And how much current will you be drawing with that lot on?

I'd assume the car was shutting down non essential systems to protect itself

Have the battery load tested, probably on it's way out.

I did think this but wasn't sure, since I've stopped using it all at once it has stopped. Just wanted to make sure it wasn't anything more serious.

If it was an older battery I would agree but as I said above its not even been in the car 5 weeks yet, since making sure I don't have everything on at once it has stopped so may well have been an overload.
