Does anyone know know how or has removed the drivers left foot rest?

Being a lanky dude I am not a huge fan of em.

For info, the answer is - Not really.

I have removed the plastic foot reset and that has still left what appears a block of some sort under the carpet.

Just a couple of plastic screws to remove the outer casing, but there isnt much point.

How tall are you? I'm 6'7" with size 13 feet and I find there's loads of room around the pedals in the Octy II / Golf V compared to other cars, including the Superb II, 5 series BMW etc.

LOL, it's more that I like to stretch my legs out, rather then having this block in the way.

Anyway, it's all academic now since it can't be done >)
