Wheel and tyre sizes for a non VRS

Featured Replies

I have an SDi which is currently on steel wheels which are 14x5J. the tyres are 165/70.

I've noticed that on the elegance models the tyres are 185/60. Are these on a 5J rim as well? if so happy days as I have 4x185/60 r14 tyres which are practically brand new!

I would run this past a tyre fitting specialist just to be safe. My Moggy Traveller runs 185/60/R14 on 5.5J alloys. You are only looking at 20mm extra tyre width, so 10mm each side of the wheel rim, and lower profile means less wall flexing. Should be OK, but I would still double check.

106,000 miles 40 years and still going strong. Never failed an MOT :D

165/70/r14 gives 587mm Diameter

180/60/r14 gives 578mm Diameter

My 1.9TDi Comfort came with 185/60/14 tyres as standard. The steel wheels are 6J x 14 ET43
