Just wanted to say thanks for this superb guide. The cruise control had stopped working altogether on my Octavia (a real pain as I commute from Sheffield to L'boro every day), but after following the easy instructions in this guide its all working fine now. I cleaned all the contacts with a cotton bud and isopropyl alcohol and it worked a treat. Once again thanks.

Finally got round to doing this yesterday. The trip computer hardly worked at all before, but now both that and the cruise are faultless so far.

OK so.....I'm pleased I found this thread. The cruise control on my MkII vRS estate just stopped working. Well, it's been on the way out for about a week.

Like many on this thread, I have a long commute and the last 2 days have been torture without it. Going to buy some CD cleaning fluid and cotton buds tomorrow and set about fixing it.

For undoing the small TORX nuts, do i need a special screwdriver?

I'm going to order a "I love cruise-control" T-shirt i think......

It a Torx 5 I think. I didn't even bother with cotton buds, just spray and leave.

I Just got mine done under warranty after 30000 miles. But good guide.
