Special tools to fit coilovers?

Featured Replies

Will i need any special tools to fit my coilovers?

Normally spring compressors to remove the standard ones, but shouldn't need anything special AFAIK for the coilovers.

Have a look at these instructions for a rough guide - http://www.kw-gmbh.de/kw_upload/Einbau/eah68682003.pdf remember you'll need to set the alignment immediately!

What Joff advises above and good pair off axle stands, trolley jack, torque wrench.

Just fitted my weitecs last weekend, as already said spring clamps, also a 14mm splinded socket, for the bolt on the hub which clamps the bottom the strut, and a 7mm allan key to remove the tops mounts. Be prepared to get fustrated with the car!

Do the offside (Driverside) first, Thats as bad as it gets!

I was going to do the back first just in case i hit a snag when i do the front.

Why do you need spring clamps to fit coilovers.

To get the old units off Des. The unofficial way to remove them is to slightly compress the OEM units which gives you just enough clearance to get them out.

But the springs are on the strut, you just remove the whole unit don't you?

.....or is the Fabia different.

Yes you do remove the whole unit but with the hub still connected there isn't enough room to get it out of the carrier so compressing the springs shortens the overall length of the strut complete so you can get it out.
