Red warning light in driver's door.

Featured Replies

What does it mean when the red warning light beside the driver's right shoulder stays on constantly while the car is in use? This has happened a couple of times, but it seems to make no difference to the abilty to lock/unlock using the radio key etc. Its a 2006 L&K with alarm. The manual doesn't cover this. Thanks in advance for the answer!

it shouldnt stay on constantly, it should only come on when the car is locked.

Where are you in the world/country? Anyone local with VAG-COM to have a look?

Call your dealer and ask.

Some motors though, have a visual warning through the alarm LED that the battery in the key fob is low, could it be this?

Steve

If you mean the LED on the door that's connect to the alarm system, then it appears to be a common problem, mine does it every so on. There should be a few similar posts here if you do a search...

It is a common problem on Golf MkVs (same platform and electrics as Octy II). IIRC it is a faulty electronics box or door open/closed sensor.

If you don't get it fixed it sometimes gets worse and causes problems with locking and unlocking.

I've had it happen to me twice in the six months I've owned my Octy.

On both occasions it was an annoyance and nothing else.

On a thrid occasion I unlocked the car via fob and as I opened the door I noticed the red light was still on.

So, closed door, locked car up.

Then unlocked it again and this time no problems - red light stayed off.

Someone did run VAG-COM on my car (whilst installing Cruise Control) after this had happened twice and no fault codes were showing.

Hi this happened to myself three times and my local dealer said it was a faulty interior sensor but after the third time i suggested it may be the wiring to the sensor which it was and the fault has never appeared again, it happened on my 56 plate Vrs

forgot word

It has happened to mine a few times in the two years I have the car. I don't think it's anything to worry about.

I'd get it looked at, as this indicates an alarm error.
