Throttle response.....

Featured Replies

In another thread i've stated that i've thought my vRS has been using more diesel than my previous one. Now lately, i feel as if the throttle pedal isnt as 'responsive'

I dont think its losing any power, its just that i feel like i'm having to push the throttle pedal 'further', or 'more' than i did on my last one. My last one felt effortless to drive on the throttle, yet as ive said, with this one i feel like its not as responsive. An easier way to explain it is, for example, for talking sakes i had to press the pedal 1 inch to sit at 60mph in my old one, in this one i feel like i'm pushing the pedal 2inches to do the same speed!! Does that make sense??

I know its a kind off stupid, trivial problem but at the same time its annoying the hell out of me!!! I think i notice it more because i do big miles, therefore i was used to the way the old one drove, then jumping into a different car its going to drive different but its now getting to the stage where i'm not looking forward to driving the car anymore.:(

And of course with the mpg being down, i'm imagining the two are connected:confused:

Any help from anyone or the techs would be greatly appreciated!!

Sorry for the long post:O

Ian:(

I'm sure I read on here you can reset the pedal. I think you get in, hold the pedal to the floor, turn the key to one and keep the pedal to the floor until all the usual lights on the dash go out. Something like that. Used to work on the Smart cars too.

Could be a duff throttle position sensor, quite common. I think you can check the throttle range with VAG COM or more up market code readers. You will be looking for 0% with foot off throttle to 100% with pedal on the floor. I would also check the MAF sensor.
