Rear Washer Pipe Connector - help?

Featured Replies

I've had the classic problem with the spinning rear washer jet on my Fabia...

Quick search on here, phone call to my local VW dealer, a few days later, and the repair kit solved the problem - can recommend it, it's fairly straightforward to do.

However... in my clumsiness, when I disconnected the washer pipe from the back of the motor to fit the repair kit, I cracked the plastic connector, so that when I refitted it I had a nice spray of washer fluid into the boot.

New plastic connector ordered, and here - but how the hell do you fit the pipe on to the connector? I've tried warming the pipe and connector, but it won't go. I'm loathe to try any lubricants as such in case they either a) block the piping or B) attack the piping.

Any thoughts? The only thing I could come up with is that my Fabia almost 9 years old and that the washer piping may have deteriorated somehow? Although there's no visible problems...

I now have a non-spinning washer jet, but a pipe I can't connect to it :(

Washer pipes do go brittle over time, and if heating it isn't restoring the elasticity of the pipe, then new pipe it is.

I was hoping you weren't going to say that... the thought of removing more trim to do this isn't exactly appealing...

Yes, I know it wasn't what you wanter to hear, such are cars I'm afraid. Unforgiving creatures that bite the hands that repair them. :D
