Nothing new I guess but Michelin have been looking into airless tyres and have recently developed the 'Tweel' ...................... not sure what I make of 'em to be honest! :o

Saw those a good few years ago and to be fair I'm not sure how the plastic would survive long term wear and tear.

and i expect they be rather expensive. did they give a guide to how long they would last and cope under pressure?

I'd expect any claims made would be over inflated...

Not like the ribs have to outlast the tread.

Of course, they'd also only be suitable for a narrow weight range of cars, without the ability to be tuned in by setting an air spring pressure.
