Which electronic polisher .............

Featured Replies

Basically, which one is best and what price should I expect to pay

I've sen a "kit" made up on Ulitimate Finish with the polisher, 2 applicator pads, 2 buffing pads and some Megs wax and polish for around £200....................

Helllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllppppp, any advice welcome

I got the Kestrel DAS-6 for Christmas - around £80-90 quid and it works on 240V supply.

I've only had a quick play with it so far, but indications from others on here that have one, and over on Detailing World, seem to suggest that they compare well with their more expensive competitors such as Porter Cable, Megs G220 or UDM (Ultimate Detailing Machine)

Another vote here for the Kestrel DAS-6, very happy with mine, although it could do with a longer flex...an easy enough modification already covered on detailing world.

Just be sure to practice on an old scrap panel before trying any serious paint correction on a new car. A DA machine is more forgiving than a full blown rotary, but you can still make a hash of things if you attack a panel with too aggressive a compound or pad combination.

Always start with the gentlest compound and pad combination. There are some cracking videos over on Detailing World, ranging from simple swirl removal, to full blown colour sanding and compounding.

Believe me, you never want to experience strike through on a clear coat finish.

I got the kestrel from santa..never used a DA before, but find it very easy..as for the short lead, i bought a single socket extension from focus, works a treat now

Kestrel is OK!

ive got kestrel and love it only thing is its probably worth you lengthening the cable as it is a bit short. theres a write-up on DW on how to do it without invalidating warranty

What he said :) Extension socket/lead works fine at first but you'll get fed up of it bumping into your ankles and possibly your car

I've got a G220 which is very good, I didn't practice on an old panel, as I was that confident. My wife's red 206 came up a treat!

Just to add my 2p, I have a G220 and a UDM but seems like the Kestrel is the new 'product' on the market and I wouldn't mind a spin on one at some stage.............:P

More than welcome to try mine on my car :)

I've been browsing the DW site for a while...some really interesting threads!

Came across this...

Alternative orbital polisher thread - Detailing World

Not bad for a polisher if your on a budget. Esp as you may only use it on your own car and possibly once a year if that!
