Nikon D60? Any good?

Featured Replies

Well I think an upgrade is on the cards :D

What are the views on the Nikon D60?

I'll probably get the twin lens kit (18-55 with the 55-200 or 70-300?)

Is it worth paying the extra for a VR lens?

Just for general photo shooting (car/zoo/nature and so on.....)

Ok so D60 VR it is then :D

What would you say is better for the zoom lens?

Tamron 70-300mm, f4-5.6 lens or Nikon 55-200mm f/4.-5.6 AFS DX VR

I know you are upgrading, but if the camera is just to be used for general shots, is it really worth going up to an SLR with two lenses to cart around ?

Would have thought a good quality p & s with an extended telezoom and image stabiliser would produce adequate results, and be much more convenient to carry. For holidays and zoos etc I take my Panasonic FZ28 (18x zoom) and a Sony hard-drive camcorder for video, although the video facility on the Panny isn't too bad.

Yes but I thought I could always add other lenses this way (Macro) or more zoom if needed.

I'll check the Panasonic out when I go to Jessops

18-105 vr kit lens is maybe worth a look. will cover landscape and portrait/animals ok and comes with the d90 so presume its decent. It might be worth buying cheaper camera and nice glass, rather than the other way round.

for me P&S just didnt cut it even at the bridge end due to electronic viewfinders.
