Also is it easy to get much more performence out of the engine at a later date.., Say Induction kit/Exhaust & Remap

Bump, in short anyone own a 1.8 SLXI 20V non turbo if so what do they think of it?

driven an early mk4 golf with this engine, goes alot better then the 2.0 8v unit has 125bhp the 1.820v non turbo as its basically a 1.8t without the turbo, never really seen many go wrong engine wise but they suffer with the same as any other, water pumps air mass meters etc

Does it use the same internals, just wondering in that sense if it could be pushed hard N/A wise

So, problems usually only new Air sensor & water pump thats hardly end of the world can cope with that!

What suspension setup does it have?

Coilpacks can be problematic too although they are getting better with each revision.

Hey,

I have a NA 20v 1.8. I think its pretty good to be honest. Pro's: very smooth, quiet, linear power delivery, economical. Easily manage to average 35mpg and get over 40mpg on a motorway run. Con's: Power delivery comes higher up in the rev range so needs to be revved to get the best out of it (not really a con I suppose!).

Mine is a t reg, if you are interested pm me, was thinking of changing it at some stage anyway!
