Three Button Keys

Featured Replies

Has anyone tried to use a three button key with a Mk1 Octavia, the type that opens the boot?

I did this mod on my Bora which also came with a two button key and just wondered if it was possible with the Octy. The boot release on the Bora was electric like on the Fabia and I am not sure whether or not the Octy one is mechanical (haven't picked the car up yet!)

I have one and it works fine :D

Thanks Ian. Looks like I need to scour Ebay again then!

The Elegance only has two buttons.

Did yours come with a three button key or did you change it yourself?

I got one off ebay for about £30, swapped the top key section over to save cutting the key and programming a new transponder. 3 Button Key part number you want is HLO 1J0 959 753 DA

I've got a spare 3 button key that I picked up on eBay a while ago if you're interested?

very interestin only just found this, does the boot accually open with the key when its programed? and is it easy to program in or is it a dealer jobby??

No the boot doesnt open it just unlocks without unlocking the whole car and auto locks when closed. Programing it is unlock with key and then press lock on remote within 2 seconds or so. Very easy job.

thanxs fella so u just put ur key onto it, then program it in and thats it?? u dont have to change anything inside the fob or the boot of the octy?? thanxs for the info ian

I've got a 3 button key now from a friend who unfortunately wrote off his Fabia vRS a while back. Just coded it and it works a treat.

Don't know why Fabia owners get the special treatment!

Just remember Simon, you owe me one! :)

Hi I have purchased a 3 button key fob and can't program it.

I have an original key that works ok. P/N HLO 1JO 959 753 AG, I have a spare key that remote works but the key will not start the car(Imobiliser kicks in) and this new 3 button keyfob P/N HLO 1JO 959 753 DA. I removed the original key top half and put into the new 3 button but no luck. The LED flashes on it but that is it.

Have I run out of key matching?

help appreciated.

Mark.

You need to open the car and drivers window (just in case it all goes wrong).

Put the key that will start the car into the ignition and turn it on, but do not start it.

Close drivers door and lock with the key.

Press the unlock button on your new three button key and hold for a few seconds.

Unlock door with key.

Turn off ignition.

New three button remote should now work.

I'm pretty sure that's how I did mine last week.

Yes.... it works, I was trying to operate the 3 button remote whilst the original key was in the ignition. When I removed it and then tried again it was fine. Cheers for that.

So you now have two remotes that have different part No.s (one is an AG the other a DA) and they both work? i thought they had to be identical (as well as being the same 434mhz)

That is correct. I thought that they just needed to be the same frequency. Must be true they work.

Inspired by this thread I purchased a 3 button key off ebay (£11) to replace a faulty 2 button key, programmed it as instructions above, works on the doors but the boot button doesn’t unlock the boot but I don’t care, cheers guys
