Back again.Small problem!!

Featured Replies

Hi again...I posted here a few weeks ago, with regards to My 02 Octavia 1.9TDi(90bhp).

It was running ok at low revs, but, when it was coming up to the 2000 revs, the turbo was Not kicking in,and the car will Not rev above 3000 rpm.

Anyway,My mechanic unplugged the Air Flow Meter, and I took it for a run.He plugged it back in,and after that,it ran fine. Not a bother.

Sadly,it has happened again on the way home earlier. No Turbo kicking in,and Will not rev over 3000 rpm.

All I want to know here is,,,Am I to be nearly 100% sure here that it's the Air Flow Meter is the problem?? Or,can something else be behind it??

Thanks everyone...

did your mechanic check for error codes? That really needs doing, but it sounds like it's going into limp mode perhaps. Did it run better with the MAF unplugged?

I kept getting limp mode during motorway cruising a couple of weeks ago, changed MAF and erradicated the problem. I was getting 17536 code when it went into limp. Get the car scanned and post any codes up as it will help diagnosis.

Thanks for the replies guys...The mechanic won't get to see it till monday,or Tuesday again,So have to wait till then for the codes.

And Yes,,It did seem to run much better with the MAF unplugged! In fact, took it for a quick trip to the shops this morning, with the MAF unplugged, and when I got home, plugged it back in,,and it's running fine again! Feckin cars huh? hehehe...

I'm wondering if it's maybe the connector that's slightly loose on a pin from this. That or a VVT problem.

could be worth trying the cage mod (try a search for this) there may be muck in the connector. Worth a try for a couple of quid before splasing out for a new MAF.
