Had the opportunity to snap this yesterday whilst on an RAF base. Not quite an honest comparison, but I have to admit to not being offended by the appearance of the mk2 fabia... I might be getting used to it now.

Well I think the mkI has a lovely shape! It's not the case with the younger brother. It feels somehow cramped,crowded,sketchy and those sad headlamps blow the fuse. Imho the old shape should have been honed to the next level as being the case in the Golf's evolution. Small changes,freshened up lines but the soul remains the same. At least the s2000 shows some promise but I won't meet her in everyday life. And it doesn't stop here! Just look at the facelifted mkII Octy! Jeez those waves on the edge of the headlights.

The Mk2 does look much bigger and much taller than than Mk1. A white roof is an optional extra and gives the Mk2 an even taller top heavy look. Don't like them yet but might grow on me. Are they still built on the Polo floorpan or is this completly new?

Mk2's look, ummm.... a bit flimsy? Don't really like em, maybe they'll grow on me, and maybe when they finally unleash a vRS model i might change my mind. Can't see it at the moment though....

They do look top heavy, I agree. I think they seem to look less top heavy in all black with the sport bumpers but from some angles it looks a bit like a built up shoe
