What do I do with my Felly?

Featured Replies

Hello all. Haven't been on here in ages.

After letting my grandpa borrow my lovely Felicia for what turned into a year, I run her for a few months and discover a water leak in the cab heater element. It's so bad that I have to refill the whole cooling system after about 15miles.

I had a look at fixing it, but it's a really involved job to get it out. I even threw my back out trying to do it.

I've been offered my mum's Focus C-Max as she never uses it anymore and I'm left wondering what to do with the Felicia. Fix, Flog or Fling?

I've had her for 4 years now and dont really want to scrap her. However, there is quite a lot of work to do to get her working perfectly and she's done over 170,000 miles now.

What do you fellow briskodians think I should do?

First off, welcome back Boswall :)

I would look at getting the car repaired as it went quite

well at the C&F run last time :)

Do you use the Felly's heater? If not, you could put in a bypass pipe between the heater takeoffs.

:iagree: just join the two pipes together that go to and from the heater matrix, although it's not too difficult a job to replace it:D

Is it the matrix itself leaking?

if the heater matrix is the same on all 3 cars then i have a spare sat on my 1.6 stricken and barren on my driveway which you can have at a reasonable price of course.

You just have to remove the wiper motor and once the valve control wire and hoses are removed the surround unclips and the heater slides out.

Thanks for the responses

That's my plan. Not sure if I'll use a pipe between the 2 hoses or double one of the hoses back onto the block. I don't want to be messing about under there too much, as I said, working on taking the matrix out to inspect it made my back go and I was lying on the floor for 4 days afterwards. (I had tweaked my back the day before, then set the high score on WiiFit hula hoop, then went out and worked on the car in the snow. :o)

I had a list of jobs I wanted to do before I found this leak :-

Full Service including brake fluid and gearbox oil.

Getting rid of the rust on the rear arches

Replace the Anti-roll bar bushes

Replace the gear stick bushes

... and that's it.

Hmmmmmm. I dunno. I am tempted to just slap it on eBay and see who wants it.

I think that had more to do with my heavy right foot and lack of hazard perception than car performance.

got the heater out of my old rally felicia in about 10 seconds!!!!

amazing what a petrol disc cutter can do.

is it worth all the cost to repair and run the felly? i think only you know the answer...

Ah so you're the infamous skoda diesel I heard all about then! And from what I heard about the state of your brakes afterwards you had a good time!

I kept the Felly reputation up quite well last time I went!

I'll never forget you chasing me in my vRS Boswall - what a hoot!!! That poor Felly took some punishment for sure!!

Still struggle to get emotional though, its a 1.9D Felly with 170k, rusty arches, a fecked heater etc - throw it in the bin.

What a nail

The first bidder (if not shilling) is winning with a bid of £51

just shows, peeps will buy any old rubbish

I personally wouldn't bid on any 'private' auction, the seller always has something to hide:thumbdwn:

It's a private auction??? That's news to me.

Ahhh OK!

Looks like eBay selected private auction by default and now I can't get rid of it. Nevermind.

On a separate note - will selling the felly mean that I have to leave Briskoda?

No you wont have to leave us, but you have to pledge allegance to the winged arrow and promise to buy another within 3 working days, lol
