rust on my 54 plate!

Featured Replies

i have just discovered (after t cutting my tail gate) to my horror that my 54 plate vrs has in fact got a rather nasty 5 inch strip of un painted metal right on the tip where the boot lid hits the bumper, It seems its rubbing on an ill fitting bumper,

would this count towards my manufactures warranty (as i dont have any garage warranty) or am i on my own, it seems strange that a 4 year old car should have this, but looking at it it is quite clearly rubbin on the rear bumper, what can i do?

:(

is it actually rust, the panel should be galvanised steel. Did you buy the car new, has it been in a minor bump?. If the car is found to have had possible rear end damage and this was not repaired by skoda then claiming will prove difficult.

the car has not been in an accident at all. its only the fact that the bumper is not perfectly flat, when the tailgate is shut the bumper and the tailgate rub in one 5inch section and over the past 4 years the thing has worn me paint down! (it isn't rusty yet but time will tell!) i would put it down to a manufacturing fault on their part, the bumper being slightly deformed?

if i touch it up it will probably just wear off again in a few months time, the deformation is only slight but enough to cause the two to be in contact.

that said do you think i have any chance to claim?

bugger me! i got no paint on me feckin wheel arch too! i'm going to the dealers tmr, if this isn't under warranty i'll be so pi$$ed!

Thats unlucky , you should get it sorted anyway , as you say , if you just leave it , its going to rust. My 2000/V reg MPI is totally rust free so far , Id deffo take it back in!

Bumpers don't deform or go out of alignment on there own, its been HIT!

No paint on the wheelarch?

That sounds suspect. Can you be 100% sure this car has not been repaired?
