Hi when purchasing my 05 vrs got main dealer to put new cam belt on as car was on 60k. Perhaps i should have looked more carefully on collection but on looking at the service book found a worry. They had'nt ticked for a new tension pulley. I called back and was told that it did not require one?

Is this correct would anyone know? Now has me doubting if they have replaced the water pump as i requested, again could i get a heads up on checking for this.

If you were billed for the tensioner and pump, and either of them go, you've got comeback against the garage, and your local Trading Standards will be interested!

Went back to dealer who looked back throgh parts used and it seems that a cambelt kit was used and therefore did have tensioners, however the pulley in question in the service book related to a hydraulic tensioner which apparently it did not require. More alarminly though was that the water pump was not changed due to fact the bearings were fine on checking when belt was off!!

There's not a lot you can do about that except consider changing garages, and if you do so, write to the owner explaining that you have changed garages because work you explicitly requested be done was not carried out, albeit with the best of motives.
