vRS alarm stopped beeping all of a sudden

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Bit of a strange one, my alarm arm/disarm beep has gone off without me pressing the buttons, (was in the kitchen at the time so lucky to hear it)

went and checked the car and it was still locked but now comes the strange part,

When i unlock the car everything is the same as before car beeps and flashes its indicators and the locks clunk on the drivers side then another clunk as i press it again to open all the other doors

Now.... when i come to lock it the locks clunk with the sound of the deadlocks but no beep anymore or flash of the lights. All the doors are locks just no beep or flash

Never has any probs before and its been like that since another user on here "mcscooby" enabled them for me,

Can anyone shed any light on why this could have come about

Thanks

Rob

quick update.........

about 1am this morning the alarm went off so i reset it and then 30 seconds later it went off again, so i re set it and then about a minute later it went off again so i went out and made sure all the doors, bonnet and boot were all "firmly" shut but it still did it again after a minute or so...

so i tried to disable the alarm by locking with the key but that still didnt work so i have removed the fuses for the horn and alarm and this seems to have stopped the sounding but the alarm still went off 5 mins or so later with just the indicators flashing away, it seems so have stopped now or the battery is dead

is this a dodgy internal sensor or door/bonnet/boot shut sensor, could it be due to the temp which got to -3 last night

never had any probs before so clutching at straws really...

any help would be much much appreciated

Rob

Anyone before i go home and torch it.........

could be the alarm sensor needs tweeked I think.

I think you might have a faulty bonnet sensor, my fabia had that before xmas, managed to survive - 7 to -9 tempertures up in the north of scotland and could not handle the -1 in edinburgh when it started playing up!

Hope this helps you mate

any ideas on where the bonnet sensor is or how i tweek the alarm sensor,

thanks

Rob

Bonnet sensor is just in front of the bonnet lock (two wires leading to it)

Interior sensor is inside centre interior light housing.

Or wiring loom/convienience unit fault.

Dont forget the boot closed switch too.

does anyone know how to get to the boot closed swtich, ive disabled the horn/alarm noise so it just flashes its sack off,

would it show any fault codes with it going off so much / problem with one of the switches

Water in any off the door sensors, rear hatch sensor, or bonnet sensors would cause unusual alarm beeps or even the alarm sounding. VAG.com does monitor these sensors and can detect faults and direct you to the faulty one. So your next step would be to find someone with VAG.com. Unfortunatley Main stealers do charge for this, the good news is you go to any Skoda, Seat, VW, Audi stealer, and some Briskodians who live near you may help with VAG.com.

If your car indicators is still flashing, take out the direction indicators fuse as well, but remember to stick it back in.

Also comsider that scroats could be messing with your car so you turn the alarm off as it annoys you. Gives them more time.

Such crimes are on the up round here. And the scroats round here arent very smart, and this isnt a crime hotspot/like major city crime.
