Steering Column Stereo Control Option

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I'm new to the forums and since noticing the roomster (never seen one before until the other day) I've decided that its the car for me (specifically the scout) as it fills a lot of my requirements; spacious, practical, highly specce'd and has the mp3 player connectivity. One thing on my wish list is the steering colum mounted stereo controls that I believe is chosen as an extra on all roomster models.

Looking through the second hand car ads on various websites it doesn't look like many have been fitted as I can't see many on the pictures and none make reference to them. So I was just wondering whether the column mounted controls could be retro fitted to the column by Skoda dealships etc. so that I can buy a roomster without (which looks like most of them) instead of severly restricting the amount of cars I can choose from.

Cheers.

Ant :)

Hi and welcome,

It is hard (tricky) and expensive to retrofit the control stick, but money talks... :)

I've got the base model, trim level 1 Roomster, I can live without it ;)

Regards

I've got a Roomster 3 without the control stick and don't find it a problem either - and my previous car did have remote stereo controls.

The main stereo controls on the Roomster are close enough to the driver to use comfortably - and they're nice and simple to use too, which helps.

Welcome Ant 80. I have the Roomster 2 and have not yet found any problem with the radio/CD controls.

I do have a problem with passengers being critical of my choice of music. Important to note that as I am the driver it is my choice of music that gets played!!!

I try phrases like, 'don't distract me whilst I am driving' and 'Leave the blxxdy thing alone' but that does not seem to have the desired affect.

Anyway, good choice of car and hope that you get one that suits your needs and allows you to play the music you want to listen too.

Off to find my calming down pills...

Thanks for clearing that up.So I take it I was right in thinking that not many of the roomsters were taken out with the sterring column stereo control option? It seems like a bargain at the £65 quoted by Skoda during factory fitting.Obviously it's not a deal breaker and I still have designs on a Roomster scout. But just for info when i'm looking at pictures in ads what side of the steering clolum is the stereo control module fitted?Cheers,Ant

Hi Ant 80. I have the multi functional control on my fabia 3 estate, and its on the left under the wheel. To be honest, its pretty rubbish. The only thing I do with it is change volume as the controls are more fiddly and distracting than just pressing the buttons on the main unit!!

I have always had steering radio controls and this is the least useful, especially as we cant have bluetooth control like the europeans. I'd definitely not restrict your choice of cars for this :)

Thanks for that, I won't be letting it influence my opinion any further. Ant:)
