Anti Corrosion Warranty...

Featured Replies

Went to fit my new number plates today, got the front one done OK. Removed the rear one and cleaned up behind the old plate, and found this...

Paintwork has been rusting behind the number plate :(

Going to a dealer tomorrow to get some pictures taken and sent to SUK. Just wondering if you need full dealer service history. Have serviced it and stamped the book myself (work in a garage) and used genuine parts etc, so will that matter towards a paintwork claim?

Anyone else seen this, and/or succesfully claimed against them? Car is an 03/53

mines the same mate, its probably the water holding behind the plate

Paint warranty is three years, and IMO that defect if within three years should be a warranty repair, as there is no reference to removing the number plates for cleaning behind in the service schedule.

If over 3 years old, not a chance, as the corrosion has to eat through a panel from the inside out.

Is that a paint claim then? I thought it would have been anti corrosion, as it has rusted the panel from behind the paint...

Had a bodyshop look at it earlier, and they say it should be covered by the 10yr anti-corrosion. Suppose only time will tell

I also thought corrosion warranty was 10 years?

Nah. I reckon that's paint, not through the panel. The 10yr warranty only covers perforation.

I reckon the no.plate has been rattling against that and worn the paint.

The good news is you can clean it up, touch it up, and it won't show.

My tailgate rusted on my 04 plate at about 96k, had bubbles showing in the shuts at the bottom of the screen where the plastic guides/bushes are bolted

"Successfully" claimed against SUK and had a whole new tailgate fitted under the 10 year corrosion warranty, car was 4 years old with FSSH bar one Indy for the last service.

If I had my time again I'd have repaired it myself, total botch of a job, came back with a list of faults as long as your arm including a spoiler with 2" snapped off the end, then superglued back on with no mention, then of course I had to deal with the arrogant "we've had your money so fark you" SUK customer service operators to get it repaired (3-4 times IIRC), don't get me started....................

If it's behind your plate, save yourself the ballache, get some Krust and a touch up and do it yourself
