Jabba RARB - Just Fitted

Featured Replies

Just fitted my Jabba RARB:)

Anyone who is considering getting this, DO IT!

I have no experience with mechanics at all but with the help of fabia-vrs.com's fitting guide I managed to get it done in about an hour and a half! I did have some valuable help from a friend though, who helped with the jacking and use of tools.

I've not drven the car too much since fitting the bar but did go out and find some nice roundabouts to test it on . There is a definite imediate difference. ThHe back end just feels so much more planted and body roll is definatley reduced as well.

My car now drives the way it should have done to begin with, why oh why didn't Skoda fit these as standard!??

Did you find the metal bands that strap the ARB to the axle a complete f******* to start off? :D

Yeah they are a real monkey to wrap around to start with. I found that putting a long screwdriver through each end and pulling them together helped to stretch and shape the strap. Gave more leverage than trying to squeeze it together with my hands.

Thought of doing it myself but thought that £30 well spent at the garage was worth taking the hassle away!

Well done for doing it though, and its a great mod!

I was gonna take it to JKM but they quoted £57.50! Plus they don't open the workshops at the weekend. Oh well at least I feel like I've achieved some thing today. :)

Yeah I had the same problem but APD are only down the road and they open on Saturdays so was a result!

Oh right, they're the guys near Holton Heath right? Are they any good there? The kind of place that could do good servicing etc?

Because it's now very unforgiving at the limit of rear grip (it will now snap into oversteer rather than understeering) and you will find it tends to 'joggle' over bumps as the play that used to exist between the rear wheels is now much reduced.

The Fabia vRS is a very comfortable car in the standard setup, the suspension setup is very pliable for rough Czech roads, but that very much compromises teh ultimate handling.

I love mine, and it's never coming off, but you have to drive the car a little differently.

I give APD a big thumbs up  very helpful chaps there, I would trust them to do all work on my car, (Had to replace one of the turbo pipes, which they managed to fit the car in for me on a very busy day). I only lived in that area for about 6 months and visited them a few times, had a nice 300bhp 1.8t polo gti project there last time I went!

yeah thats the ones, just stick apd vag into google and you'll find them. Paul there is ex Bmth SEAT so know the VAGs well and I think the labour rates are a fraction cheaper than JKM.

Out of consistency, quality of service and having used them for a long time, including my previous car I will always try and go to JKM when possible although there is nothing wrong with APD.
