Can you modify a newer engine to fit an estelle?
how different is the skoda box to a early vw box as they look fairly similer?
I was looking at a vw camper gearbox (commonly used for subaru conversions of beetles) and it looks chunkier in the casing (could be made to fit imo) and the gearshaft seems to come out at a higher point than a skoda box (but bar bent into a set of 2 90 degress could solve this).

didn't have both sat beside each other but as you say looked simillar.

As per Kieran's advice on the other forum.......don't bother unless you want a tail heavy money pit. You would need to pay someone from scratch to do this for you and you will need a whole load of re-engineering. Having a cheap but unsuitable engine and then working out how to fit it is not the way to go. Find something suitable then pay for it and then fit it. Of course anything is possible and if you want to do it and have the money then it will work!

/\ What he said, with the additional note that the Golf and Ibiza engines are engineered to be mounted transversely. If you really must use a VAG engine, one from an Audi 80 is at least designed to mount in-line so will bolt up to the gearbox once you've got a flywheel and adapter plate,
