Pub talk isn't even on the agenda - bang for my buck is. There are some crazy prices out there and I'm trying to get feed back on who is good and who isn't out to rip me or others off. They're out there as I'm sure your aware. I'm hoping I can learn from others who have, unfortunately, paid out their hard earned cash for a poor result.

slightly high jacking my own post here but would 265 tyres fit on the BACK of a mk1 Octy? I know it's too wide for front but wondered about back?

I doubt it. 205s nearly fill the arches widthwise, and 235s are often quoted as the limit on standard arches and offset. I think you'd be looking at rolled, and quite possibly stretched ro flared arches, just to get the tyres covered.

Even that, what would be the advantage on an FWD car? Most of us struggle for front grip more than rear with same size and make all round.

No advantage, just found some wheels on Flea-bay I fancy! They have that width tyre on the rears. Will leave it if no good.

Going to Motech on Friday (he is an agent for Mr Washbrooks maps). I won't mention the price but I'm happy! Let you know the results......

What is the standard Torque value on the Mk1 vRS?

iirc it around 176 ft lb's and a stage 1 generic from most reputable tuners will take you to between 230 - 240 ft lb's.

I have Revo generic and when I hit about 2800 rpm it just goes mate

Motech are a trusted tuner too and I nearly went with them but as I have a Revo agent 2 miles away it swayed my decision.

yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Your right Ian, it does just go!!!! Just back from MOTECH with a very good deal done and 20 psi to boot! Goes really well and will get better over the next few days.

I can't recommend Mike at Motech enough. Real nice guy, knows his stuff and no hard sell or **** involved - if you like it, you buy it and if not he takes it off again and no charge. Guess which option I took!!! (If any of you can't guess just refer to my first 5 lines of text :D)

Now it is your duty to upset Merc, Beemer and especially Audi drivers  It's in the small print of the remap instructions

You will find it gets better as the ECU adjust's.

Glad your happy mate but you will tire of the standard suspension pretty quickly now as it limits your fun.

Ian

Thanks Bud

Glad ur happy ur car went well !

Hi Mike. Yes mate, more than happy. Much better to drive now, more smiles per mile shall we say! I fitted the yellow spring to the 007P and it holds the boost level much better. I tested both the green and the yellow spring in my hand before fitting and the load needed on the yellow to compress it was blatently higher and has proven itself now too. I'm hoping I can withstand the desire to bolt more stuff on but I can be very weak willed on times! :D

Give it a year and you'll have a list like mine :D It's the people on here mate, they send subliminal messages through your monitor :P

YOU WILL SPEND MORE MONEY!

Does your car handle like the preverbial Roller Skate Ian? You have everything known to man strengthen your handling up! Short of welding everything together and running with 15 profile tires I think your there!

It handles well, always room for improvement though and fortunately I've been put off the AP coilovers by another thread.

Actually what with decent rubber in the form of Hankooks and now the roads are dry and warmer during the day I'm starting to feel the full benefits of my springs and dampers and am having lots of fun :D

Maybe I will change the rear ARB to the neuspeed later in the year but for now I'm happy.

Hi

Sorry to butt in, what it the spring thing you are taking about?

  • Author

It's the spring that goes inside the 007P DV. Before fitting it would get to 20psi then drop to around 17 whereas now it holds 20 - no more boost leak!

Can you buy the springs individually or do you have to buy the set?

  • Author

individually mate, around £11 delivered I think. It's on the Forge site on the same listing page as the kit. All springs are the same price too. Is yours adjustable too Ian? Not encountered a 006 as yet....

And we are an agent for Mike...lol

Hi Guys

The P-Torque remap is £265.00 all in with dyno runs before and after.

Custom maps are also offered at £345.00 all in.

A member had our stage 2 map on their Octavia VRS with full blueflame exhaust and pulled 240hp and 255lbs/ft torque yesterday

Excuse that post! Just realised you are already sorted with a map, pleased you are happy
