Nearest Tuner?

Featured Replies

Anyone know who the nearest tuner to Northamptonshire would be? Im staying in Corby so anywhere around there will be great. Looking to get my Mk1 Octy re-mapped but hopefully by someone reputable as recommended by the forum members!

Jabbasport are going to be your nearest I would've thought, in Peterborough.

Are they reasonable? I heard they were a little, dare I say, expensive? Apologies Jabba if your reading this! I want good results but don't wanna spend £400 when I can get same result elsewhere for around half - Ptorque as an example. How much do Jabba charge?

You're unlikely indeed to get the same result as a Jabba custom remap, for half the price.

What results could I expect from a Jabba map over, for instance, P-Torques work then?

More power ......On their rollers, I'm not so sure if you run it on others though ;)

APS are in Brackley just down the road from you aswell. have been great for me.

Jabba or Unit18 spring to mind.

Other than drivability I don't see a custom map making much more than a generic on an otherwise standard car, but if you've got a free-flow exhaust, 200 cel cat, FMIC and CAI fitted, then a custom map will make significant gains on a generic.

Contact Richard [email protected] he will sort you out

It will be much cheaper as well :D

He is normally at the office but is out on the road sometimes.

RichB86 - How much did they charge you mate and what did you see for your money gains wise? I don't think I want to go REVO route, doesn't seem that impressive to me for what their agents charge.

I got a small deal from them as there where a few of us getting the map done at the same time but its probably worth emailing ed and seeing what he could do for you.

Power wise i get around 210bhp so not huge figures from a remap (compared to some) but realistic and i find its a very drivable map thats got a very wide power band. They've also been very good for general work like 4 wheel alignment etc when I've needed it done.

links to results from Marlins RR

if you do go say hello to ed for me

Rich have you changed much on the car since your remap was first put on?

I was just looking at the results from when you first got the remap and they look completely different. Was this down to heat soak after the remap?

No changes.

The first RR I did was at Surrey Rolling Road and the car was driven about 150miles and went pretty much straight onto the rollers, whereas at Marlin it was turned off for about half an hour and a lot cooler ambient temperature wise so I put it down to that. Also the marlin one was post 40k service iirc so fresh plugs, oil etc

I've always taken RR results with a pinch of salt as there are so many variables and possibilities to fudge the results (not saying that either did).

and looking at them they do look different dont they!

345 was the price from APS! Too strong for me!

Have you e-mail Richard?

He has done loads of maps across the forums

Have a search for oscarli ;)

slightly high jacking my own post here but would 265 tyres fit on the BACK of a mk1 Octy? I know it's too wide for front but wondered about back?

  • Author

And will be contacting your other suggested tuner today, yes.

Just checked Oscarli's website and it only shows 205 as expected output? Thats not great is it?

Bigtaff don't be hung up on the bhp figure it means nothing at all.

Torque is the figure that determines acceleration and top speed and given the choice between a 100 bhp car with 200 ft lb's of torque or a 200 bhp car with 100 ft lb's of torque I would take the former every time and enjoy walking all over the "more powerful" car.

What is the standard Torque value on the Mk1 vRS?

Totally agree with ian, Sustained torque is king

Take a bit advice, go do some research, get in a few cars that have been mapped.

If pub talk figures are all your after then fine, if you want a car that drives nicely and doesnt peak and drive you mad (not to mention jerking about on lift off) then get a propper researched map that is written by someone who knows what they are on about. Mr Washbrook is a prime example of this.
