Opportunity for a dream conversion?

:D Something I've been thinking of for a little while. All the running gear out of something like:

1999 T REG AUDI S4 2.7 HIBISUS RED, DAMAGED NO RESERVE on eBay, also, Audi, Cars, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 15-Mar-09 20:11:48 GMT)

Into something like:

2001 SKODA FABIA CLASSIC 1.4 8V BLACK PETROL MANUAL on eBay, also, Skoda, Cars, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 10-Mar-09 16:12:33 GMT)

 Only wish I had £10k or so to buy both cars, welly the 2.7 biturbo engine up to 500bhp+, and then fit all the running gear into the fabia.

That Audi aint to far from me haha. Anyone want it picking up?

Does seem a bargain way to get a 2.7 biturbo into a fabia though. Cars cost you no more than £3k in total then it's just a matter of butchering the underside/chassis/bulkhead of the fabia to get the engine in, and the rear diff setup - weld in the whole rear beam, prop down the exhaust tunnel, engine "should" fit OK if slung back a bit.... The mind boggles, as does the wallet.

jason, do it!

I'll have to do more fund raising for me to be able to afford it :P

it would be a waste ripping the audi to bits. fix it and use it!!!

[Top Gear] Audis are driven by c0cks! :D

Of course it will be a waste of money but a 4wd 500hp+ skoda fabia? nuts! :D

Good point. If money were no object I'd be investing £3k approx into a known European source who can make all the WRC panels in carbon fibre.

The Audi or the c0cks????????????

Put it in the boot. ;)

£3k would just cover tooling alone!

I'm sorry but I just don't get it.

Can't you just buy an S3 and spend the cash on big mods?

Or even an R32 and fit superchargers / turbos?

Nope - Indeed you don't get it. :P

Sure, you can build a fast quattro, but the fact there isn't a skoda fabia with this kind of setup is what makes it enticing, a challenge, a bit of fun, something totally unique. :) It's the whole reason the mongrel is in the world really.

I am a **** :)

OK Well never the twain shall meet I suppose.

I must admit to having utmost respect to that guy who put a VAG 1.8T into a 1.2 Clio, even keeping the steel rims and placky wheel trims. that was awesome!

If your serious about doing it, then you need to decide from the beginning what it's gonna be. A big bucks fire breathing rally replica with awesome power, or an ultimate Q car, discreet firebreathing close-to-stock Fabia with awesome power.

Or something totally different.

To be really fun, I'm afraid the Hatchback has to leave the building. Do it to an Estate, Combi or my daft idea, a saloon!

J.

But the saloon's are ugly!

Has anyone put the 1.8T into a Fabia?

Considering the available trim levels, compare like for like and they are not so bad.

1) Tarmac muching monster... Saloon, Audi Quatro style big arches etc... :D

2) Sleeper. Grandad levels of beige with 300 BHP :D

Skudmissle did on his red furby

I used to have an Audi S4. Amazing value for money when you think they were over £40k to buy new.

Went quite well but not as quick as i'd hoped. Great car for autobahn muching though! It would cruise at 150mph like you were doing 90 - got to the Nurburgring pretty quick that year! lol.
