Cruise Control - Old and new versions?

Featured Replies

Hello all,

Im having my 25k service in my 07 Fabia VRS this week, and decided to make them fit cruise control at the same time (since I will be driving around france in a few months).

I've recently found out that there are two versions of cruise control that can be fitted to a Fabia:

  • The old 8L0 stalk
  • The new 1J0 stalk

If they fit the old style stalk, does it have any less features than the new style? Or does the new style lack anything? I can see how you electronically speed up/down with the old style as its in the manual. But I'm not sure if you can do this with the new style system too?

I've also heard that you can get the old style stalk to make a warning sound if you go above/below a certain speed. Is this true? Doesn't say it anywhere in the manual! Heres a comparison of the two systems:

Thanks for your info!

Pretty sure they both do the same thing and no they wont give you a speed warning.

pLUS i THINK THE 8L0 stalk superceeds to the late one anyhow.

They also use the 3B0 variant now as well. I think the old vs new comparison is misguided as they are different chassis ID's.

All have the same functionality just in different places. In the righthand picture speed reduction is the buttton on the end and speed increase is the slider on the front (+ Sign)

Interesting, thanks for the replies. What does the 3B0 variant look like, or is that revision just internally different.

Similar to the ones above.
