Drivers electric window works then dosent

Featured Replies

I have the MK1 octavia and recently the front drivers electric window has started to play up with these symptoms...

When I press the button all i can hear is clicking sound like the window is being pressed up when its up but then nothing then it will decide to work but a few times its decided to play up when i have the window fully wound down and it refuses to move up again i can hear the clicking sound when i press the button but nothing happens .

The motor is obviously working fine to wind the window down but cant think what it could be or what to check.

All other windows are fine, just the drivers window....it was a nightmare at the weekend when i took the kids to the mcdonalds drive thru the bloody thing would not move and i had to get out of the car to pay (in the drive thru) i got some funny looks .

Any pointers would be great on this guys - Cheers.

At a guess, this could be down to moisture ingress in the central convenience controller connection to the elec window motor in the drivers door.

Any other symptoms? Elec mirror working when window is playing up? Is the drivers door LED staying on when driving?

It could be a faulty switch or course...

Thanks, No other symptoms just annoying that i can hear the clicking of the motor when pressing the button then it does not move then out of the blue it moves.

The conveinience module is under the steering wheel and it is all dry.

Dont know what it could be, if the actual switch is faulty on the drivers door why is it making the clicking sound when pressed.

Dame cars...lol:)

Having same problem on Octavia mk2 after snow melted on top of switches. skoda say i need new "control unit". I'm going to remove and keep on a heater over night. Thanks to "Mannyo" and "skippy41" who helped me out.

The drivers door window does not open now but all i can hear when i press the window button is clicking.

I cant understand why it would be clicking but not winding down the window, when i press the button to wind it down it just goes clunk click and no movement.

Cheers.

Sounds like the window regulator has broken.
