Quick rapid questions

Featured Replies

As regards the 127bhp I had on a dyno it was at the flywheel not the wheels.I had a big valve ported /polished head, straight inlets ,twin 40 dcom webers,32mm chokes,k and n filters,sk6 cam and straight through manifold and system fuelled by twin facet pumps. The motor did not come onto cam properley till about 4800rpm and then came in strong-it was dead below those revs.Needless to say the engine did go bang very quickly due to the revs it wanted to pull.I do recall some one in the past with a 1400cc big bore kit claiming over 140bhp from an engine still running a jikov -yeah ok.To be honest my rapid ran a 136 with 32/36dgav ,ashley and favorit ignition and not much else and went really well till it expired after 2 years of hard use.A good set up milldly modded is far better in the long run paying attention to basics ie tappet clearances, timing ,,servicing and fuelling

I do have the dyno sheet for the engine somewhere -I will try and find it to post pic

I've seen claims from reputable sources that indicate 120bhp is possible with a set up jikov, a bit of porting, remapped advance curves, forged pistons, blueprinting, so 140 from a big bore isn't that incredible, particularly if the stock engine suffers port masking on the valves.
