Featured Replies

hi all im sat here contemplating on refurbing my alloys but i also need new tyres and with the cost of these 2 2gether being £700+ im wondering if i should just buy some new alloys anyone got picks of there ockty with alloys so i can see what looks good cheers:thumbup:

700+ what you doing gold plating???

mate you can get them refurbed and sprayed any colour plus have 4 new tyres ( khumo's 225/45/17) for around £500 max

Most aftermarket alloys are a lot heavier and a lot softer than the original spiders, also the aftermarket ones are usually supplied with cheap ditchfinder tyres, and you have to pay extra to get good quality tyres.

Get them refurbed for about £40 a corner in anthracite (I'm biased to that colour) and put on Toyo T1'Rs or Fulken 452's in 225/45/17 from Camskills at about £85 a corner.

Dont risk it with cheap ditchfinders.

4 New Toyo Proxes T1-R's.... £284.00 inc VAT & Delivery

Full tyre off refurb, painted anthracite, new valves, balancing & refitting of tyres... £305.00 inc VAT & wheels to roll on while you wait

The look on the face of another VRS driver as he wonders why his rims don't look as good... PRICELESS!!!!

addendum

I got my alloys refurb for 180 and they turned out great :)

A word of warning on cheap alloys. I got 4 new RS8 replica's 10 months ago. When I cleaned the car last week the lacquer is bubbling and lifting all over the place. I think the extreme cold has caused this as they were not like it when I previously cleaned it as I would have noticed. Frankly I'm really disappointed that this could happen so soon.

So I am in the market for some spiders which will be getting the anthracite treatment.

sweet im going to order some tyres tomorow and the refurb will be at weekend walet permitting :)

If you are finding it that expensive then do what I did and do it in stages.

I bought 2 tyres, then another 2 and then got the wheels done.

I did think about other rims but I am so glad I didn't.

Where did you get all this done Bertee?

I used a company down the road from my work called Mitcham Tyres & Wheels

I went in on the lunchtime on Tuesday, they took my wheels off, loaned me a set of Audi 16" rims and told me they would be back on the Friday.

Went in Friday lunchtime with the new boots, they fitted them and away I went.

Spot on service

If only they were a bit nearer! My Matrix alloys are looking a bit pants. :(

Best bet is to go into a wheel shop and ask them.

Try Fenwicks Alloy Wheel Supplies in Northallerton for powder coating the wheels;

Fenwicks-Mobile alloy wheel repairs and alloy wheel refinishing

Ask for Mike, he did the wheels on my Porsche and I have no hesitation in recommending him.

Please disregard my previous post. Unfortunately, I have just found out that Mike has gone out of business.
