Some of last nights nightshots

Featured Replies

Hey all, went out for a play with the camera last night...not the best pics....but was trying to capture streamers from the headlights and taillights.

Was using a Fuji Finepix S8000FD with 4 second exposures at 8MP/ISO 200.

Lovely high HGV ones mate, tempted to pop out for some shots myself one night:thumbup:

Down to the A19 around Thornaby should give you some nice shots.

Nice pic's by the way.

Good idea:thumbup: Now Ill have to hunt for the tripod:O

Good try, just an observation/suggestion if I may?

Not sure how low your ISO can go, or indeed how long an exposure you could have got, but I might suggest to time how long it takes for a vehicle to go across your frame and go for that length of exposure. It might mean getting creative with your framing and composition as well depending on the limitation of the camera / filters etc. I'm just getting into creative lighting and finding I need to go and buy some ND filters in order to get long enough exposures at the beach.

Continue to have fun..

If possible put camera on manual and get some black card and use this as a lens cover, just uncover lens when a load of traffic comes along. Shutter needs to be on bulb setting, gives multiple exposures.

Good idea, will need to try that some time. Do you need a remote release to use BULB function?

Yes normaly, as you can then lock it in the open position without moving the camera.

I think the camera will drop as low as ISO 64 or ISO 100, im not entirely sure without looking at the camera. I'm relatively new to advance techniques of photography, so still in the early experimentation stages.

Whilst playing about, i found if i took a custom white balance and then went and under exposed it slightly i got better shots. Otherwise they seamt too bright.

The camera will only allow up to 4 second exposures, im not entirely sure if reducing the MP would achieve longer exposure times. Although there wasn't alot of traffic about whilst trying to get the pictures.

As for filters, you cant really get any screw on ones for my camera. As the bezel is a solid piece of aluminium thats permanently fixed to the body.

Im not entirely sure if you could get a slide on adaptor that fits on the bezel and then attatch a filter, would probably be easier just to buy a better camera with more functions within the software.
